American Airlines will be adding a second flight from Worcester Regional Airport to Philadelphia International Airport when it begins service in Worcester later this year.
The airline had announced earlier this year one flight each to and from Philadelphia at the Worcester airport. That service was almost immediately criticized by some because of what they said was exorbitant pricing, as well as the flight schedule, which had the Philly flight from Worcester leaving at 9:30 a.m.
Among the biggest critics was airport watchdog Bill Randell, who also was the first to reveal over the weekend the new American Airlines service. The Worcester Magazine Radio Hour earlier today announced the news on Unity Radio.
On Monday, Massport revealed the airline’s new schedule, which includes a 6:18 a.m. departure from Worcester and a 7:09 arrival in Philadelphia. A flight from Philadelphia leaves that city at 2:55 p.m. and arrives in Worcester at 3:50. A second flight from Worcester to Philly departs at 4:19 and arrives at 5:10. A night-time flight from Philly to Worcester leaves at 9:29 and arrives at 10:24.
